Emma smiled and noded a little, sitting up and looking up at him. “He may pull out his own nightstick.” She laughed and got up, straightening out her skirt and holding her hand out to Will. “Oh, look. The lady is being chivalrous.” She joked, giggling a little bit, beaming down at her handsome date.

He laughed and took her hand, standing up and placing his hands on her hips “Well thank you.” He smiled and leaned down to kiss her cheek gently. Hopefully he would get a goodnight kiss when they got back to her place. He kept his hand in hers and walked her back to the car, helping her in. He got in his side and started driving back to her place, his hand never leaving hers.

Emma squeezed his hand gently and looked over at him, smiling. “Or you came around at the same time. I don’t really date. I have a couple of times but school is usually just too big of a priority.” She scooted over next to him a little bit closer, looking back up at the stars. She sighed. “I think this is my favorite date by far.” She said quietly.

He smiled when she said it was her favorite date and kept his eyes on her, “I think it was mine too.” He leaned in to kiss her cheek gently before looking at his watch. He sighed and ran his hand over his curly hair gently, “We should probably get going. I don’t want your dad to send the cops after me.” He laughed and sat up on the blanket.

“Aw, you’re the baby.” She said jokingly, reaching over and poking his shoulder gently. “So what’s wrong with you?” She asked, lifting her eyebrows. “I see no reason why you’re not already taken, so you’ve got to have some ridiculous baggage behind you. I’m guessing three illegitimate children and you kick people when you sleep.”

He laughed and rolled his eyes a little, “Everyone loves the baby.” He said and winked at her. “Well I do kick in my sleep actually but while I was at boot camp I didn’t have much time to date. You just came around at the perfect time.” He smiled and took her hand gently, threading their fingers together.

Emma nodded. “So in a sense, you’ve actually made an educational investment.” She smiled over at him. “That’s pretty smart. I’m going to be up to my EARS in debt when this whole thing is over, but I guess that’s part of what makes it beneficial to me. Learning to be responsible and things.” she sighed. “So your whole family is in the military? The men at least? That’s cool.”

He nodded and smiled at her, “Yeah I guess so.” He said and shrugged a little, “My dad, grand pop, and brother are all in the military so I just wanted to follow in their footsteps even though my mom didn’t want me too. She is very protective of me since I am the baby.” He said and reached out to play with a strand of her hair gently.

Emma looked over at him. “Then why the military? Why didn’t you go to school? You could have been an astronaut. Or an astronomer. Meteorologist. Why the military?” She lifted her eyebrows and caught his gaze, their eyes locking.

He looked at her and shrugged a little, “Well I always thought that maybe I would go back to school if I wanted to. Veterans get a lot of money for that so I kind of get the best of both worlds.” He said and nodded, “Plus all the men in my family were or are still enlisted in the army so I had to keep with tradition.”

Emma laughed and shook her head. “No. I’m not too good for anybody. It’s usually the other way around, actually.” She shrugged again and smiled, resting her head down on the blanket  and glancing over at him. “You don’t have to. Special is one of those things that varies from person to person.”

He nodded and smiled, “Everyone is special in there own way I think.” He said and rested his arms under his head again, looking up at the sky. “I love coming here and just looking at the stars. I could literally do it for hours.” He said and laughed a little, “It just fascinates me.” 

Emma lifted her eyebrows and looked at him confused. “Why would I laugh at you?” She turned over so she was on her stomach, her feet kicking up in the air. She looked down at him and shrugged. “That’s not something funny, and you shouldn’t laugh at things like that - even if you’re going to reject someone. You never know how that harsh rejection will make them feel.”

He listened to her and nodded, “That’s true but I figured you were too good for me when I first met you.” He said and kept his eyes on hers, “I will just have to show you how special you are.” He grinned and leaned in to kiss her forehead gently, letting his lips linger there for a few seconds.

Emma laughed a little bit and sighed. “Sorry, I just, um, usually…that’s - not really how it goes?” She looked over at him, smiling a little bit. “Just a bit unexpected, I suppose. Not bad, just…a surprise.” She leaned over to kiss his cheek gently. “Thanks. Again.”

He shrugged and looked over at her, resting his arm under his head “What can I say. I like to be spontaneous.” He smirked and wiggled his eyebrows at her, laughing a little. He looked at her when she kissed his cheek and nodded, “I think I should be thanking you for actually coming out with me and not laughing at me when I asked you.”

Emma froze a little as he kissed her, looking up him when he pulled away. She hadn’t expected him to act on his confession. She licked her lips gently, then smiled at him a little bit, pushing her hair back and clearing her throat. “Was, um…that…thank…you?” She asked, lifting an eyebrow.

He looked down at her and laughed a little, rolling back onto his back “I’m really not sure what the question was but you’re welcome.” He smiled and looked over at her. Sure that wasn’t the reaction he was expecting but he would take it. She was so adorable sometimes and this was definitely one of those times.

Emma raised her eyebrows. “I think you know a lot about me.” She laughed and pulled her eyes from the stars, looking over at him. “I’m wildly obsessed with a few television shows and if I miss them during the week - even if I have a major exam to study for - my whole life feels off kilter.” She smiled. “What about you?”

He smiled and nodded, “Isn’t everyone a bit obsessed with some television shows?” He asked and placed his hand on her hips gently, “Something no one knows about me. Well right now I really want to kiss you.” He said and looked into her eyes. He moved in closer to her and pressed his lips against hers gently.
